wtf is composite. is it like the press board that they make plywood out of? or is it fiberglass? i would rather have a steel hood. then some flimsy piece of card board.

its as close to carbon fiber as you can get without using actual C.F... its a way to make fiberglass stronger in flat areas. (where its weakest.)
I wouldn't be surprised it they use metal mesh in the middle of those hoods...

i was just on my other site and a ram owner just received his composite hood went to the local shop and they wanted to charge 600.00 to prep and paint the hood. and it was off the truck. does this sound correct for composite? if so you can forget about me purchasing one. i would be better off getting a scoop and pop riveting on.

Altair, it should be lighter than stock.
Superdak, it said it was a sandable gelcote... so my guess is that any shop that paints fiberglass can match it perfect. it should paint like bondo or any other fiberglass repair would. atleast thats my guess. I had a local shop paint some fiberglass boxes when I worked at the audio shop... they didnt seem to have a problem painting them. and we gelcoated them ourselves...

well the hood should come preped and ready for paint so there shouldn't be any need to have to prep it before paint...so yeah and its a good hood had one on my 1st gen and we had a hail storm...everything but my hood was dented like ****! so it'll do you good!
hey i'm starting to double guess my self...which hood looks better?

Definately the Ram Air hood for me. But then, I am a Pontiac Nut as well
And as far as painting, Composite is the same as Fiberglass. They have applied a Gel coat to the hood, so regular painting techniques for painting
