this is great great info! I will be doing this next weekend and will be going with the 5224's because I do about 1/2 of my driving on the hwy and half on back roads. Thanks for the research!!!

 

i went from the factory champions to the 5224 and lost 45/50 miles to a tank of gas, but when i went back to the factory champions my mileage went back up but still had that studder every now and then, when i went to the 3923 the studder went away and the milage still stayed very good if not better then the factory champions

 

so even though my engine is not really modified except for the K&N 63 Series, I should stick with the 3923's? My other question would be, how often do you have to change them? The stock ones are due since I have 31K. Will the 3923's (or the 5224's) go quicker as indicated earlier in this forum or will they last 30K? Taking them back to the store is easy, I just want to get the best ones for my truck. So, please give me some feedback.

 

my other question would be is, which is better autolite or bosch?

 

and what about NGK? Heard anything about these?

 

once more questions...how many ft-lbs. do these need to be torqued when installed?

 

20 foot-pounds. Stick with the Autolites 3923s my guess they will carbon up faster running one temperature colder from what I’ve been reading so check them every, say 15k. My HO came with plats. from the factory but went to the copper 3923s.

 

Go ahead and use the 3923s, everyone around here seems to have excellent results with them.

I've always been told your spark plugs get changed every 12 months or 12,000 miles (whichever comes first) and you should remove them every oil change and check for deposits/damage, re-gap, and clean them. At least, that's what my dad's generation thinks. Newer cars seem to have much bigger intervals between scheduled maintenance than those of the 60s and 70s did and in newer cars they're just too hard to get at to inspect every oil change. Basic copper core spark plugs are pretty cheap, so changing them every 12,000 miles isn't much of a burden.

 

thanks for the feeback.My last two vehicles (Avenger ES 2.5L V6 and Stratus R/T Sedan 2.7L V6) had platinum and were 100K plugs. So, the copper plugs are a new concept to me. I appreciate the help!

 

Well I guess Dodge either read my strings or got a bunch of text on why does my hood sticker have a differemnt plug printed than whats in the engine. Look what I got in the mail today.
