so i'm deploying soon, my truck is going to be stored in a storage unit... for atleast 6-8 months... and will not be driven at all....what should i do in preperation to store it.
obviously drive it till the gas tank is pretty much empty, dis-connect the battery, empty the oil?
not really too sure what to do... never stored a vehicle before...

Well when we store our snomobiles for the summer we usually put some stuff in the gas tank to keep the gas from gettin all crappy, forget what it's called though. You could even try googling for "storing a vehicle" or something similar. This site came up for me, seems pretty helpful: http://www.openroad.com.au/motoring_...ingyourcar.asp

Before you leave, give it lots of love, and remind it that you won't forget about it.
When I left, I had a friend start it up every couple weeks. He also needed to fill up one of the tires due to a slow leak (whichI still need to get fixed
). You know, run it for like 10 minutes, turn the A/C on, pump the brakes, put the transmission in neutral (reason being, Chrysler automatic transmissions evidently don't pump fluid in park, I'd just like the idea of having the fluid moving every couple weeks), just give it a good look over.If you can store it at a place with some space, have that friend move the truck to get fluid circulated in the axle(s) and t-case (if 4WD).
Of course, thats just my suggestions.
Hope your deployment goes well and you come home safely.
best advice would be to give the keys to someone you trust and let them take it around the parking lot to keep everything well maintained. or find a place that would do it. butthat will be expensive
Same as my hubby does for his bike during the winter.....FILL the tank (DO NOT empty it, above advice about moisture is so true)....Sta-bil added to the gas.
Good luck and god bless.....come home safe!!!
