Have you noticed any MPG increases since using amsoil. Are you still using it?
I've been thinking of using it as well and if i can get better mileage with extended oil change intervals i'll do it.

You may want to PM him that question, he's not a forum addict like some of us. Or someone else with Amsoil can answer. I just did a mobile 1 switch 500 miles ago and so far so good.

The government is actually changing the standard change interval to 5000 miles.
If you use full synthetic such as mobil 1, like I do, simply check it at 3000 miles.
There have been a couple times where at 3000 miles instead of doing a full change, I do just a filter and top it off. The full synthetic has MUCH better properties than conventional oils and last a good deal longer.
I would still continue to check it.
Also, there are places you can sent it in and actually have your oil tested so you REALLY know when it's bad or not.
I've bumped from a 14/13 mpg average to a 16+ average in WINTER, 17+ summer, and THAT is with quad cab 4x4, fiberglass cover that is really heavy and full of tools for work all the time, extra clothes since I work outside all winter, but have changed to royal purple in axles and transmission and use mobil1 in motor. Also have a chin spoiler and during the winter, a full grille block.
Also I have mods of CAI/HAI and a 2.5" exhaust straight through and out the side design.
The CAI gave a little increase, the exhaust gave a little increase round town, decrease on low speed highway, increase at 70+mph on highway.
I'm just giving you this information for reference.
Also, I plan on spending a little bit of tax return money and getting an electric fan which will DEFINITELY give more mpgs.

Pony, I hate to burst your bubble, but a e-fan won't give you the mpg boost your DEFINITELY looking for. Seems how the fan doesn't drag as much as one would think. About the only real time it's a benefit is in racing.

Also, scamsoil isn't worth the hype. I'm not a fan of pyramid schemes, and that's what the company is, just like amway, rainbow vacuums, etc, etc.

And please tell me you know what a full synthetic is vs a "synthetic " ill give you a hint before you Google it, base stocks. Do some homework.

Personally I use Royal purple. I tried amsoil in my motorcycle, not only did it run hotter (fan kicked on alot more often) but the tranny clunked alot. That puts a bad taste in my mouth.

Why the hostility? The moon landing was fake too huh?

I rememeber Blup0ny's MPG thread from... May? of last year. This guy has certainly done a lot of research.. I'm sure he's ripped the internet (not just the internet) apart trying to find information about every possible facet of fuel consumption. I am by no means, an expert, but I woudn't discount his findings like so quickly.

and it's "You're"

FrenicX, please ask me if I care, grammar ****. Don't you got something better to do like pound salt or something. If that's hostility. Get some thicker skin.

Oh Btw about mpg's, I'll let you in on a secret, pssst, it's a secret, it's a truck. Need I say more?

I kinda hate to burst your bubble but I saw (and continue to see a solid 1.5 MPG gain over-all since going to an e-fan). Gains are greater in-town than on the highway obviously since the engine has built up enough power to overcome the parasitic draw of the clutch fan while cruising. It also free'd up 14 RWHP - DINO VERIFIED on my truck.

I do agree with you on the RP though, I've used a few different synthetics and find RP gives me the best fuel economy over Mobil 1, Castrol and Valvoline. Although the numbers are close enough to say that driving variables alone could make the difference.
Another interesting tidbit, although not applicable to Dak owners, is that my infamous "Hemi Tick" is quietest or least noticeable when using either RP or Valvoline Syntec and is loudest with Mobile 1.
I tend to use the Valvoline product unless I can catch the RP on sale (which isn't very often, although I did step on a deal last year where the RP was under $5 a quart through an online special (I posted the special on this and other forums at the time). Bought 7 Qts. for the truck and 6 for the Jeep and should have bought more at that price.

I usually use a Wix (Napa Gold) filter unless I find one of those deals where the Valvoline or RP is on sale with a quality filter. Besides the Wixl, I like anything made by Champions Lab (RP, K&N, etc.) or Purolator filters. My oil change interval is 6000 miles and I've sent samples from both my truck and Jeep to Blackstone on two separate occasions and am very pleased with the results of both RP & Valvoline at my change interval.

The ONLY way to know for sure that your oil is doing what it is supposed to is to get the free collection kit from Blackstone (or similar service) and pay for an analysis...

Rapta - - - - > I would be interested in discovering the difference, if any, between "full synthetic" (like Mobil 1) and "synthetic." (like Mobil 1). I suspect there isn't any. Unlike semi or blend. Google was no help.
