Default Just got back towing alot a long ways

Well since I volunteered to go overseas I had to move my wife back to her parents house. I had the Raider 4door 4x4 V8 and a 6x12 trailer...weighed the vehicle and trailer with motorcycle and furniture and stuff and it was 9004lbs so what ever our truck weighs minus that..She handled it ok I guess. that is alot of weight. I had to drive mostly through country but a couple of cities in NC. In the city the temp gauge got up to around 3/4 which kinda scared me...but I was pushing her a little not to block up too much traffic...I thought the electric fan might have popped a fuse but it hadn't. I got about 13 MPG which isnt too bad. I'm not sure what the weight limit for the truck was but I am sure I was close to it...I feel bad for her, so tommorow I'm gonna put a fresh oil change in her and some water wetter..

On a different note the electric fan setup I have with the high/low settings, I though I would wire it up to run on high instead of low and it kept on blowing fuses...i put a 30 in her and it popped when it started up...any ideas? Im thinking maybe a ground on the high side wire of the motor...I will check tommorow.. Is the reason my temp was getting so high because I was towing and trying to accelerate too fast?

well you've got all that weight on the truck its gonna make it weigh more but i mean you were only towing what like 2500 pounds? our trucks are supposed to haul like 7,000 pounds with the V8's? not sure but thats what i think it is and if it was at like 3/4 with only a 2,000 pound load then yeah that is kinda like weird but idk cause i don't do much hauling with my monster!

I would check all the wires for your fan. It dont sound like it is geting enough air. I pull a 6x12 with a standby generator, 3 welders, 40 gal air compressor, tool boxes, and more loaded heavy and mine dont go to half way with the stock fan

Well with trailer and load it was about 4550 that I towed.. The fan works fine...The a/c blows reall cold. I may have had the setting the thermostat switch a little high so that may have been it. If I see it continuing to have problems I'm going to remove it and put a new fan in.

i towed like some where around 5000lbs from AZ to Oklahoma. like 1000 miles and averaged 14mpg i don't tow much so i don't know if thats bad or not.... it towed like a champ the only problem was the uhaul trailer (12x6) was crappy and can't really tow faster than 50mph.

I just did about 100-120 miles with the 16 foot cargo trailer loaded to about 5000 pounds (including the trailer) up to the Poconos...some major, major hills and it did okay...it was a little sluggish on some of the hills. The last hill was 3/4 mile long, with an 11% grade...I could only pull that at 30 mph in 2nd gear. On the highway, it did okay...it would keep a steady 65 mph over 4th, 5th or 6th gear, depending on the grade. I-81 in PA, north of Harrisburg, is pretty much all hills.
