I was curious about the proportion of various engine types the 3rd generation Dakotas where running on this forum. I am new to the Dodge Forum now owner of a New 2007 Black Dakota SLT with a 4.7 HO engine. My previous vehicle was a Ford Ranger and I very much prefer my Dakota.

 

Well the 3g Dak is only available with 3 engine flavors stock. 3.5L V6, 4.7L V8, and 4.7L V8 HO.

 

That would be 3.7L V6, 4.7L V8 and 4.7L H.O. V8.

'08 gets 3.7L V6 and the new 4.7L V8

 

Whoops, couldn't remember if the V6 was 3.5 or 3.7. You know what they say about assuming

 

Too bad they don't put the 3.5L in. It has more power than the 3.7.

 

What is the difference between the 4.7s? Yeah, HO is High Output but so what... what are the numbers and more importantly how do they do it?

 

Don't have the numbers off the top of my head, the HO has different cams I believe.

 

Same intake and exhaust? Usually cheaper to design install at least seems that way on cars.

 

5.9L would be nice !

4.7L HO 260 HP with premuim fuel. Different cams and ECU.
