I have an 06 Raider and I'm looking for a CAI, b/c the gas miliage sucks. I have found this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/04-05...mZ230164613594)
on eBay. First question...will this fit my Raider? Aren't they pretty much the same truck? Also, why pay the extra $ for AEM or K&N? The one above does have a K&N filter. Thanks for the advice...

 

It has to do with the heat shield, or lack thereof. The "real" CAI come with a shield of sorts to keep the engine compartment heat away from the cone filter--this one here would let the engines heat get sucked inside the filter--Heat = loss of power.

 

That's kinda what I was thinking...pretty expensive for a heat shield. I think the same guy does sell them with the shield, but for a few more bucks I can get a name brand that fits properly. Thanks.

 

Or just build your own out of sheet metal...won't look pretty but will work!!

 

forget that chrome stuff. they only attract heat. also spend the extra coin and get a name brand one that comes with a heat shield. because farther down the line you will kick yourself

 

You could also make your own like ericemery did. I've been looking into that and to do it with mandrel bent tubing seems like it would be around $40 plus a filter (K&N, Airaid, AEM...)
