Default The 08s what are we calling them

Are these still Gen IIIs or Gen IVs How about Gen IIIs build II or something like that? How are the powers to be at the Forum looking at this as far as listing them? New category or separate post areas? I don't know I'm just wondering how this will be addressed since they are officially out for sale. IMO they are a Gen III and a build II because > 80% is still a original Gen III.

Ya know, I bet they'll be considered IV....

Due to a new look, new engine....

Maybe not though, otherwise they'd still be Gen3...

In my opinion, it's just a rehash, much like the 1st gen received about 2-3 years into the build. This truck is not really any different then the current model, albeit some enhancements.

Personally, I dont expect many people to rush out and buy these.......not enough people were actually thrilled with the current Dakota....and in my opinion, most are moving on to full size trucks with the same gas mileage only bigger...

Some of the full sizes get better gas mileage. My best friend just got an '07 Silverado with the 5.3 Vortec. He gets 22mpg average (town and highway mix), it's got way more power than my dak and about 6mpg better.

Well you do bring up a good point about going full size. Rams are in abundance supply and not much higher in price thanDakotas. It really depends on the size of vehicle you want and not so much as what you need. My 4X4 Dak will fit in my garage next to my wife’s car. It’s tight but doable. A 4X4 Ram would be out of the question. I prefer to park it in garage if we are in for a hurricane, Sounds maybe dumb but in FL I can count five times in the last8 years where it has happened. I can park it most anywhere a car can park and it’s easy to take camping with our pop-up. The size is perfect for us regardless of price and fuel usage. I will say that if size was not an issue I would have gone for a Ram or Tundra in a heartbeat. The 08s are nice to me for one reason and that’s the revised 4.7. Other than that the new dash/consol and front end is not a big enough change to mater. Now waiting for what may happen in 2010 will be interesting with very little Daimler influence this time around.
