THere really aren't any great places to mount an xm/sirius unit in our trucks. I have my xm roady2 mounted down by the cupholdeer, which is a fairly clean install, but it sucks to look down to change the station.

Agree's with Altair. If not for the Ipod, no radios would have aux inputs right now. Typical of the domestic 3, they are usually the last to introduce new or more convient tech into vehicles. That is part of the reason vehicles like volks, honda etc are stealing some people. Just sheer convience of their vehicles. ***Hopefully, the big 3 have been spanked hard enough, and learned their lessons***
Fat chance that they've learned squat. I haven't taken a radio out of the dash (or replaced one) in many many years.

It's got to be 15 or 20 years but I seem to remember a Line Out or something on the back of the radio. Maybe it's the aftermarket one in my RX-7 I'm thinking of. Anywho, I thought even the cheapo radios had aux in the back for amps and what-not. Again, that is an Out not an In. Oh well. I'll stick with the FM dial for now.

looks real good there. I agree that their isnt any real good place to mount an auxillary source such as sat radio or ipod. for me i have the portable sirius radio and you can see in the pictures where i mounted it. Im pretty happy with that location, its real easy to reach to change channels if i dont want to use the remote. I have mine wired thru a fm direct adapter, so i tune to a certain fm channel and i recieve the sat radio but with it hard wired theres absolutely no static, and to go back to fm i just turn the unit off and it works like stock.

yeah since my cupholder area is a lil' diff then your guys... I didn't even bother to try put in an ipod mount... I just lay it in the lil' coin or w/e tray right below my shifter and cupholder... ( IDK if you guys have this lil' tray)

My MP3 player has a lanyard on it...I hang it from the mirror....works well and keeps it within easy reach for changing songs and whatnot. My cell phone usually goes in that little tray below the shifter/cup holder.

Do autos have a different tray? My change thing isn't really deep enough for a cell phone. Hell, it doesn't even keep the change from falling out.

Auto's get two cupholders, whereas manual's have the gearshift where the right cupholder would be. I'm not sure if there's a difference in the depth of the tray in front of the cupholders/shifter...mine's deep enough for my cell phone, and just long enough for the cell phone (antenna and all) to fit, and my cell's a pretty big phone..time to get a smaller one when my "new every two" is up in November.

Man, if your phone is as long as that tray it's gotta be huge! What phone is it?

An LG VX8100. I got it about two years ago when it was the best on the market, but it's pretty large. Like I said above, it's almost time for my "new every two" and I'm getting something smaller. I don't think there's too much that's larger in a flip phone. Even the upgraded model to the VX8100...the VX8350 is a lot smaller and they remove the antenna, which'll save an inch or so right there.
