I could care less about the changes to the truck. I want the lifetime powertrain. It doesnt have to be an 08 model, it can be a new 07 or 06 as well, and you get the lifetime warranty. The only thing that makes me get rid of a truck would be a costly repair that out weighs what its worth to me (im saying like, 10 years down the road). That warrantee takes alot of the chance of that happening out of the picture. I wonder if they sell that warrantee to people who are still in there 3/36k term?

Possibly? I'm sure you could get your hands on one somehow. Honestly though if I'm going through the effort to do a swap I'd be looking at the Cummins or the 5.7

As far as I know the '06 and '07 would have to be untitled. Doubt there are any '06 left in that category. I'm under the 3/36 but the second owner...definitely wouldn't apply to me even if they do offer it. Mine came with the 8/80 extended tho.

Went to build one but I couldn't get what I wanted anyway. Booo at dodge for no standard transmission!
That wasn't even an '08 change. I tried to build-n-price an '07 in February just for fun, found the application didn't allow it, e-mailed them (since the specs on the website seemed to indicate it was available) and they said it had been discontinued. From their email:

We are pleased to read about your interest in the 2007 Dodge Dakota.
After review by our product specialist, it has been discovered that at
the last minute it has been decided that the 4.7L Magnum V8 engine will
not be manufactured with the six speed manual transmission. This
combination was offered for the 2006 models but due to lack of demand
has since been discontinued. The only way to get the 2007 Dodge Dakota
with a six speed manual transmission is with the 3.7L engine. The
website will be corrected and updated very soon. I do apologize for any
inconvenience this may have caused.

I was playing around with building an 08. I like what they did to it. I really like that orange color. I think if I could get a really great deal and they would let me take my fastman throttle body out and my airaid intake and put them in the 08 I might be willing to trade in my 05. I would rather have a quad cab anyway plus I have always wanted a sunroof. But it would have to be a really sweet deal though.

If you are the original owner (of a 2006) you can buy lifetime warranty for $900 with zero deductible or $750 with $100 deductible you MUST do this by end of month or price WILL DOUBLE!!!!

I don't like the pricing of the trucks through them. I bet you it's cheaper to go through the dealer that's already built.
