Try not to over think the whole thing. Whatever the oil company recommends, you should be able to run. I run 15k cause mobil warrants I can. If RP says 12k, I would do it without over thinking it. Your going to have other huge problems before any dirty oil related failure occurs lol, if it ever does. Im a believer because I have multiple high mileage engines between friends and family, that have doen 10k oil changes since the begining, and it doesnt seem to be any different, then doing 3-5k changes on dino.

What you should be more concerned about is the quality of the air comming into an engine. Make sure your K&Ns are oiled right, and your filter seals are good, etc.

I think all oil filters are created equal, EXCEPT a FRAM Tough Guard. They are the only company who uses glued cardboard ends on the filter cartridge, all other companies used metal ends. Do a google search you will see what junk these fram filters are.

Other then that, run that synthetic into the ground lol.

I use quaker state Q torque 4x4 full synthetic oil. I still believe in changing oil and filter every 3k. I use fram filters and have been for 15 years and like them and never had a problem with them. Plus I think if some of you like me have the 7 year 70,000 mile powertrain warranty you might have to follow the factory recommended oil change cycle or you will void the warranty. If I was to let it go I wouldn't push it more than 5k no matter what oil I was using. I use royal purple in the rear end and I will still change it every 15,000 miles. Chrysler now offers a lifetime powertrain warranty now and I know its required to have regular maintence done at the recommended intervals or the warranty is voided.

That's not going to ruin the warranty on our trucks, unless it's the cause of the truck breaking down, which means we probably siezed up the engine.

I am running the RP also. I change it around 5,000 miles everytime. I really like it, I changed on a whim, and have loved it ever since, truck runs a bit smoother, and I swear i have noticed my average MPG went up per tank. I don't know what the best filter is, but I use the K and N Gold one, a little more expensive, but at every 5,000 miles, whats an extra 5 bucks? Anyone know ofa better filter to use? I agree with the air intake thing, as long as your intake is keeping crap out, you shouldn't have to worry as much about contaminates, unless your not checking oil levels between changes.
