Default Anyone Have...

Anyone have paint problems? on my front bumper, in 2 different spots my paint is peeling. one spot is the size of the quarter, and has been there all summer and it wasnt a big deal but now on the other side of the bumper, i have a strip 6 inches long and in some spots as wide as 4 inches wide. went to local dealer and the guy tried to tell me it looks like i took sandpaper to it, i called bull**** and licked my finger and wiped the spot clean and said what now and he was like, i guess it was just a tad dirty (this is the service manager)....he says come have a seat inside and ill be back in a min. 5 minutes later he said come in my office. ok. then hes like "paint is tricky, you didnt buy the truck here so you have to go to where you bought it. if it was parts or regular service, we could do it, but with paint you ahve to go to where you bought it. theres nothing we can do here. youll have to take it to them and they will take pics and send it to dodge and get back to you." (this is the dealer i have purchased parts from before and is local and i know 6 ppl personally that work here and one of their dads is the owner) i pretty much said ok, ill be back very soon. i called corporate and they said bs they should do it.

i called 2 other dealers and told them the situation and they said they would take the pics and push for me, no questions asked, they want my service.

i went to a body/repair shop (the one that actually does all the warranty repair work for the dodge i got denied from/i also know the owner personally) and had them look at it. they said their was no impact anywhere (tell me something i dont know) and that it should be under warranty no questions asked.

after all this, i called and raised hell at the dealership that turned me the other way, giving them the name of the corporate personell i spoke with, the name and number of the owner of the repair shop and told them ive got 2 other dealers ready to take my business too, but this is closer and easier for me and their going to do it or else this might escalate.

i came in again, the took pics, and i will hear back the verdict on monday or tuesday.

btw-some of you know i got some paint work done on my mud guards done cheap, only 15 bucks. lol, well they said for me, they would only charge me $80 for the bumper if its going to be too big of a hassle via dodge. they are top quality too, i guess knowing people, especially the owner help. but god knows, this along with any college kid could use an extra $80

my mud flaps painted were 70.00. i had them use a flex agent to help out the paint for the harsh winters and to do my frt bumper will be about 300. other than that no peeling. also does your truck sit in the sun alot.? the bumpers are cheap plastic and if you go and wash your truck the cool water hitting the hot plastic will tend to crack it.

yes, the flex agent was used in my mud flaps, and the flex agent was included in my $80 quote for my bumper...remember, we know and are friends with the owner. they only charged me cost on the mud flaps, and the same in this quote.

as for sitting outside, yes it does. while the interior is protected with my tint, which protects from uv, i also have the windshield blinds, but yes, the exterior is in the elements. i havent gotten the word yet, but it will be covered. if this dealership blows me over, i have 2 more that know the situation and are waiting for a return phone call and would love my service.

My truck has the crappiest paint job..... Dodge refuses to put up and neither does the stealership I bought it from even with 30,000 miles and 6,000 left on bumper to bumper and 70,000 more on extended. Numerous blemishes, areas of clear coat missing (under drivers door window)and paint roughness, bubbles. I've taken it x4 to the stealership and all they've done is hit it with a clay bar and says thats the best they can do....... Total BS.

that is bull ****. take it to a paint shop to get their written analisis on it, call corperate offices, tell them whats going on and that should take care of things.

I've tried everything, Dodge says that roughness is "overspray", stating that when I bought my vehicle the front bumper was repainted due to cosmetic problems. Well, I then took it to the stealership I bought it from and they stated that it was missing clear coat and if Dodge wasn't going to pay for anything then I was SOL. I called corporate and they just said that there was nothing they could do and that I was also SOL. Anyway, I'm sick of this crap...... I'm gonna find something

Ok you want to see a rust problem just look under the bottom rubber door seal and you will notice that moisture collects in the seal and causes the stamped tach weldedsteel on the rail to rust. The paint just bubbles away and rust is forming under the seal on both sides of my 07. I had other Gen III owners say they found the same thing when running wires in the rail duct. This is not good! If it isn't treated, it will cause real metal damage within a two-year span.
