Thinking about selling my chip.

RE: Thinking about selling my chip.
Yeah, I might be interested in the chip, too. But I don't get paid 'til Monday and that's gotta cover my 6 month auto insurance premiums first, then an oil change, rear diff fluid change and new spark plugs...I need to get all that done before it gets real cold.

chip is pending sale... if it falls through, ED has first crack at it... I am waiting for a confirmation PM from the potential buyer.
Alt, if you are looking for loud, I suggest the alpine type R's. if you are looking for clean and tight... I'd suggest the Type S...

RE: Thinking about selling my chip.
well... I owned a type X... if you want loud, dont get it. I had 2 type R 10's that hit 150 bd in a db drag. my type X only hit 139.3... And that is with the same amount of power. (type r's had 500 to each, the type X had 1200...)
the type X will accuratley reproduce almost any frequency from 4hz up to 150hz... the R's are similar but wont drop as low. they struggle under 12 hz...
I strongly suggest running alpine, JL or Zapco for your interior amp... cheap amps just cant power the R components right. (total mobile audio is a good choice if you are on a budget. they are made by JL and sound awsome. I just put 1 in my sisters caliber)

Well I'm not expecting one type X to run louder than 2 R's, however I don't think I have room for more than one sub thus the X. Was also planning on picking up some PDX amps to power the whole shebang and a 9885 for the dash. Think that would work out pretty well? (right now this will all be going on my Xmas list, we'll see how much I can manage to get, lol)

well, the amps are a great idea. if you are going to seal the sub enclosure go with the Type X. if you are porting it. (round or slot) go with a type R... I think the type R's are louder... My sister has 1 type R in the cali and it pounds. plus she only has 400 watts going to it. My X wasnt any louder and it had over 1000 watts...
If you want loud, I'd say go with a type R or JL 10W6... the jl being way louder than the R. (and louder than the X if both are ported.)

I was planning on sealed, I want to make a custom enclosure for it that goes between the rear seats (similar to JL's stealthbox). I haven't really made a custom box before so I figured better to keep it simple. How do you think the 10W6 would perform sealed? I really want a sub that sounds clean too, had a 10" audiobahn in my last car in a sealed box that was loud as all hell but it was a little muddy.
