will that cause the fogs to be on at all times, even if running lights are on? or will you have full functionality of the fog lights, to turn on or off at any setting?

btw, why are you and i always doing the same mods?[8D] also havent seen you on here in a while, nice time to stop by

ughh you got a point...i didn't think it would send a warning to the computer because it shouldn't be detecting voltage at the moment anyways. OK so here's another idea!

Add the relay I talked about above. and then add relays on the fog circuits, that way the voltage and current going into the lights from the high beams relay circuit won't reflect back into the computer system. BUT when your fog lights ARE ON the computer will see voltage and current are flowing through the relay. The only question now is, the small current goung through the fog lights circuit to the added relays, will that set off the computer too?

I'm not 100% positive what you're saying with this, what would everything get hooked up to?

Ok, WHY!

If you need one on, the other is going to be either useless, dangerous, or both.
I'm sorry guys, but I just don't understand. If I'm missing something here, please fill me in.

Why would the other be useless or dangerous? Turn on your lows and fogs, notice how good the light coverage is from right in front of your truck out to the range of the lows. Now turn on the high beams, notice the crappy light coverage in front of the truck out to a certain distance and less light coverage to the sides. The fog lights would illuminate those areas. Now at least for me, I generally use highs driving on back roads with little traffic, you are far more likely to find animals, deer, etc on back roads. With the extra side illumination from the fogs there is a higher possibility you will see an animal on the side of the road and have more time to act accordingly.

I'll draw up a diagram of wha tI was trying to explain...annnnd I might look into doing it.

Basically, it's putting 2 relays on each side of the truck. One relay would be activated by a + wire spliced into your high beams circuit. And wire from your battery to power the lights. There would be a new ground wire running from the lights.

For the low beams, it would change your fog lights circuit into a relay activation circuit. The ground for the relay activated by your fog lights circuit would go back INTO the original system, so that when your low beams are on, the computer reads current from your fog lights, BUT when your high beams are on, it doesn't send any current back through the system. following me? I'll draw up a diagram in photoshop and upload it to make my design easier to understand.

night runner, with this mod your fog lights will work as normal until your highbeams come on. you could run a switch on the #2 relay to control the highbeam fog mod. sorry for being gone so long , my wife and i have a 7 1/2 month old baby boy. i have been enjoying time with them. i have been reading the forum though.

ya, but in most states, replacing the bulb with silverstars are even illegal

and like stated above, i drive a lot of back roads, and it would help a lot, as well as on the highway with no cars

They aren't illegal, if the lights are DOT approved...

Which Silverstars are.
