Default Liberty 3.7L Headers

There has been talk in the past about headers for the 3.7L Dakota, and they have yet to surface.

JBA does make headers for the 3.7L Jeep Liberty however, so what's keeping the Dodge owners from bolting those suckers on? I haven't taken a hard look at what's going on down there in my Dakota's engine bay, but is there something big in the way?

We 3.7L owners are clearly the red-headed step children of the Mopar truck family.....[sm=lame.gif]

That mostly applies to all of us... You guys with the V6 do have it a little harder though, either way aftermarket support sucks

Oh comeon, you can't expect me to do that!

"If it ain't broke, fix it till it is!"

Also, JBA might be albe to give you some info regarding using the liberty headers if you give them a call. Could also ask if they have any Dakota specific ones in development

I was under the impression that the 3.7L in the Liberty and the 3.7L in our trucks are different engines... I remember reading somewhere...let me see if I can find more info about it...

Okay our 3.7L v6 is a 3.7L Magnum and the liberties 3.7L v6 is a 3.7L PowerTech... so I'm geussing theres a big difference in the engine architecture... Hope this helps, but I'll keep looking

Actually, they're the same engine....PowerTech is just badged Magnum in the Dodge trucks (Dakota and Ram). The Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep 3.7 is just the 4.7 V-8 with two cylinders lobbed off (and some other changes to make it all work).

I'mvery surethe two engines are fundamentally identical."PowerTech" isthe name of theengine generation, like "LA" was for the 3.9 and5.2 motors.

What I'm not sure ofare the clearances under the hoods of the Dak and Liberty; the Dakota engine bay is decently roomy, but I think the main issue would be getting the headers and cats to line up and bolt together correctly. I haven't yet talked to JBA, but I'll try to remember to do it.
