Sorry been so long since login-lost login info-When will we get a torque monster diesel? Also has anyone any ideas on how Dodge might improve the Dakota? I a little concerned that Dodge trucks may not be around much longer-any thoughts on that?-Free erg

 

Seriously.... I would be at the Dodge dealer right now if hey dropped a new gen Dakota with a diesel in it. Something with a solid 350 to 400ft/lbs of torque would fit my bill perfectly.

 

Rumor has it by 2010 they may put a diesel in the dakota.

 

Yeah I heard that rumor too that by '09 or '10 dodge was gonna try to have a diesel in all their trucks

rumor also as it I'll be trading in my truck when that happens

Diesel would be quite tempting, and I do want another Dak eventually. I don't know though, I think I'd rather pick up a 2nd gen so I could have something to autocross

 

Man, would I love a diesel. With the miles I drive, and the economy and longevity a diesel can offer, it'd pay itself off rather quickly. I'd be giving that one some serious consideration if it became reality.

 

yeah they are saying by 2010 they should all be diesel...but they also said that the 5.9L motor would go in the newer Generation dakotas adn not stop with the 2nd Gen..but it did so yeah. but i'm doing the diesel swap into my dakota...got the motor, trans, the whole new wiring harness and everything i need to do it...guys at dodge are gonna do it for me...not for free of course but yeah

 

Will the Diesel fit in the Dak? Seems like the engine bay isn't big enough for a motor that big.

 

with some modifications to the firewall...but keeping it in spec. with DOT regulations it will fit, but for the most part it will slide right in without any major problems!
