my 05 came from the factory with skid plates and it is a normal slt. both frt and under the tranny cross member. also the shakles are at the end of the leaf spring under the rear bumper, very easy to get to and replace. most shops will charge you 30 to do takes about 15 minutes for the shop and about 1 hour in your drive way.

But I live in a stupid small town, and the dude has done work for my dad, forever, so he helped me out.
But ya, about half hour, to an hour of total work time, involved.

what you need is a jack under the meatball to raise up the truck. once it is high enough you have to put the truck up on frame stands. this will allow you to move the shakle and spring up or down when removing or installing the shakles. do one side at a time and you will be good. also you need a 55mm torx socket for the top bolts. and a plain socket or wrench for the bottom bolts. depending on how much road grime is on the bolts, it may be better off to get new ones from the dealer or your local hardware store. i did not have to because i did the shakles early when i purchased the truck
