I hope you didn't try force it on. Are the threads on the engine connection still o.k.? Not stripped? Don't mean to insult your intelligence, just asking. Let us know how you make out.
No, I didnt try to force it on. I just went and got a Fram like last time and it spins right on. I emailed STP, but it seems that they dont even make the filters (no surprise) so there may be other cheap ones like it that dont work.

Glad it worked out for you. I only use K&N. I like the feature of the 1" socket connection.

oil filter? whats that. i guess i am still using the the factory one at 47000 miles. dont seem to have a problem. could this be why my oil has clumps in it when i drain it out? any way i always have used fram filters and change them out at 4500 miles so ya the beginning was a story but sounded good. and yes dodge did a poor design on the filter location. at least leave it flat so oil does not go everywhere

YEAH WELL i just stick with the mopar...cause really if something happens say the filter some how starts to leak and causes your engine to blow and the dealership did it....you know whos responsible? the dealership...lol so many little things you learn working at one!

what he said.....the position of the oil filter on the dak isn't bad, isn't great but isn't bad, but still makes it damned easy to remove with a 6pt 1" socket, extension and offset wrench

this is what the factory filter looked like after I finally got it off.....don't know who had gone through my tools but the only oil wrench I had was a jaw/plier type that works great on the motorbike but frickin useless on the truck

I've always used Napa gold filters in the past and so has my entire family, no complaints from anyone. When I switched to Amsoil I put on the Amsoil filter though.

Thats nothin. Since mine is the long and skinny one for the 3.7, it was even harder. It was about 3 times more mangled than that, with the outer casing peeled back.
