Default upgrade speakers

I was thinking of upgrading my stock speakers and possibly adding in 6x9's in the rear. Has anyone upgraded their speakers them self, I haven't looked at how much of a pain in the *** it would be getting the door panel off and stuff.

if you've got the quad cab I don't think you could pull it off as the knock out in the metal door panel would have to be modified (cut) to accommodate anything larger then a 6 3/4 x 6 3/4

you're best best it to check crutchfield.com to cross reference any speaker you're thinking about to make sure it will fit width and depth

piece of cake...remove the trim piece beside the window, take out three screws and the panel lifts right up...carefully snap out the bar for the door lever and you're good to go

i just replaced all my speakers this weekend. 6.5 in te door and i have boxed 6x9 on the rear seats. i have a cc so one sits back there. got a great deal off ebay both sets of sonys were 107.00 delivered cant beat that. my frt dor panels had 4 screws. two at thw bottom one behind the latch to open the door from the inside and one where you hand goes to shut the door. remove them and lift up . also at the top of the panel where it meets the dashboard there is a plastic nipple that goes into the door. jusr remember to get the door and the nipple lined up when installing it and it will pop right back in

also depending on the type of speaker you get, you may need to get an adapter ring to fit the opening

honestly... i was going to go with the 6x9's and i decided to give components a shot... I put pioneer 4ways up front and kicker component speakers (un-amped) in the rear... and it's just like having 6x9's all around...

Eric knows what he is doing talk to him.

Taking stuff off is easy but i suggest 6.5 all around. whether u prefer something or not it's easier and mine sound great (i have all alpine). whats hard for me is wiring head units.
