flowmaster is a chambered exhaust, gibson is packed....a packed flows a lot better than a chambered. a chambered is a muffler which has a bunch of walls that direct the airflow into different sections and rooms of the muffler itself. the different designs give different tones. a packed muffler, is like a straight tube. say you have 3" pipe. than its like a 3" pipe that has a few holes in it that lets a little air get into the outside of the 3" pipe into the "packing"....the different types of stuff used to pack, give different tones, but you can see that the air flow is a lot less distrubed than in a chambered.

i decided to go with borla, which is a packed muffler. really, unless your **** about performance, chambered or packed wont make a huge differance. sure you might get a little better or worse flow, but it wont be a big deal unless performance is a major concern of yours. im pretty sure im the only one on this board that has borla on a dakota, or any other board i am on. plenty have gibson/magnaflow/flowmaster ect and so on.

I have the CherryBomb Vortex muffler and I love it. Not quite a straight through but it looks like it should flow almost as good, sounds great! http://www.cherrybomb.com/vortex-mufflers-video.html

So I ended up getting ahold of the guy (who has been incredibly good to work with for parts) and he held the flowmaster and is sending me the Gibson Dual Sport exhaust instead. Maybe ill leave that one on instead of having something custom made. Anyways. So It looks like from here I should get?

Obviously Im gonna need headers eventually, but no one makes them for it yet and I dont feel like going to a shop quite yet. I've heard something about the Y pipe being not good on these trucks, so should I replace that as well? As far as cats go, anybody have any opinions on different High Flow Cats? then im getting the Fastman TB, The Black Magic Electric Fan, and then I dont really think there is anything else out there for the 3.7 at this time...Sad...so Maybe turbo by the end of next year? Mild turbo, not like anything crazy.
