Default Gas mileage and TB

Has anyone else seen a decrease in gas mileage after installing a larger TB?

Its funny after I installed it my gas mileage went from 15mpg to 14mpg. But about 2 weeks later it went back up to 15mpg. I do all stop and go driving so depending on traffic I guess I could see better mileage on light traffic days. With the switch to the winter blend gas I get 12 mpg. I am very happy with the TB though. This morning I stomped on it to pass a slower car and Man I thought I had nitrous. With the temerature in the low 30's the truck accelerates like a rocket.

And if you do the power wire mod, it'll drive like that all the time.

Holy crap, man. You have a 4.7, right? Around town I'm getting 200-225 miles, and on the highway I think I'm doing good to get 270-280 out of a tank. On the rare occasion that I check I'm around 13-14MPG in town and 16-17 on the highway. I would think the stick should make it better than an auto, but it doesn't seem to from what I've heard and read.

Granted, mine is a 4X4 and a bit heavier being a QC, but how the hell are you getting virtually twice the miles out of a tank than what I am?

You answered your own question...you have the 4X4 QC...your mileage is not too dissimilar from what I am getting.

When Drove down from Chicago to Tampa I got about 18.5 (kept it at 75). Lately in and around town (not too many lights) I have been getting about 16 or so but when I was in Chicago (a lot more stop lights) I was getting about 14...

I was trying to find out if the guys with the bigger TB saw a decrease, increase, or no change in MPG after the install. Or if there is some kind of maintenance I need to do other than resetting the computer.

MPG should neither go up or down with throttle body change
...but normal driving has MPG jumping around anyway
