Monroe Shocks
You guys with the leveling kit up front still feel that your front suspension isn't up to par? I know the kit has nothing to do with the shocks, but ever since I have had mine on the ride has been infinitely better, no boucingfrom my truck at all when I hit a bump.
I bought an '06 Quad Cab a few weeks ago with 29k miles. The front struts were obviously shot and felt like riding on the USS Minnow. I figured "hey, I'll stop by the local Advance Auto and get some new ones" but as you all know by now that thought was due to my then ignorance about the aftermarket situation. I choked when I checked on line and saw $130ea for OEM struts. Luckily, I picked up a new pair on Ebay REALLY cheap. The new ones make a world of difference in the ride but they're still on the soft side and I know they won't last long (hopefully at least until someone else starts making them available) I saved the old ones so if it comes to it I'll cut off the mounting bracket and build me a set from Bilstein or Koni inserts down the road. FYI, theOEM strut (not including the lower mounting bracket)is 1-5/8" OD,10-3/4" long, 1/2" shaftand has a 5" stroke.
i just spoke to a guy at Monroe this afternoon and he told me that front struts for my truck at least (2005 2wd ) will be available by the end of this month.A rep at shockwarehouse.com confirmed that.Rears have been available for sometime now.
Hmm, Same shock all Dak's
Somebody doesn't know what they are talking about!
Don't hold your breath! but please do let us know.
I wish Rancho or Bilstien would get off thier butts because I am not crazy about monroes anyway AND (concerned about the grooves in the middle of the travel not working well with the level kit).
I really don't understand what the delay is, I mean they do this for a living for christ sake, it's not rocket science, it's just a fricken SHOCK ABSORBER!!!
Sorry, had to vent

You're right, it's not rocket science, and Dodge dropped the ball when they put them squishy shocks on. I had Rancho's on my 2nd Gen Dakota and was happy with them..
So, let's get with it people, we need new, stiffer shocks now!

How hard would it be to put the old torsion bar suspension on our trucks? At least you can crank the bars for some lift. My 2000 silverado had them and I was able to level the truck by cranking them and the ride was still decent not too stiff. With that answer from monroe don't expect anyone else to make struts for us I guess.
