2006 4.7 quarter mile times
yeah...well what i wanna try is taking off in 4x4 and see if i get a better track time...launch in 4x4 then put it back into 2wd....or just go down the track in 4x4? think that would work?
you can only go so fast in 4x4, and then the truck starts to shut down, but taking off in 4x4 really wont help out either. just the initial force to get the truck going is gonna slow you down. the best thing i found out was to apply the parking brake at the line. that way you are not taking the vaccum out of the engine by standing on the brake. just have to time it correctly and pop the e-brake and mash the gas at the same time, truck will exhale better and take off nicer. as for standards i have no experience coming off the line with them
POP THE E-BRAKE? what do you mean power break the truck so when the light turns green your motors already ready to go so to say? cause i'm not tryin to be reachn down to pull my e-brake off launchin the truck...lol
I am interested in what the new 2008 dakota club cab will do in the 1/4 mile with the 4.7 engine.I have one on order with the 3.92 rear end and full time 4x4 package. I think it should do pretty well maybe around 15 flat in the quarter. I hope for 0 to 60 times around 6.5. Might be optomistic but we will see. Also the Automotive news said yesterday that Chryslers new plan for selling more vehicles is that they are going to start adding content to 15 different models including more features for the same price. This will start in febuary and will be in place of additional incentives. No information was released on what models and what content would be added yet.
LOTS of misinformation in this thread.
Not calling anyone a liar but I want to see slips on the 14 second trucks.
9.12 in the 1/8 is good for a LOW 14 in the 1/4. Sure that wasn't 10.12? Or not a full 1/8th?
Frenchy- you seem to be on the ball here. I'd bet your 6-speed could crack a 14.99 with good traction. The 6-speed works well with these trucks compared to the auto.
And yes, to the original poster, you will get a better E.T. launching in 4wd. (unless you're not spinning taking off in 2wd) My 60's drop from 2.4 down to 2.2 launching in 4wd. A truck "shutting down" up at top end in 4wd isn't accurate at all. I accidentaly left my truck in 4wd making a 1/4 mile pass once and it actually turned out to be my best pass ever. Usually though I'll put it back into 2wd after I launch.

Oh ya, I know Im on the ball! :-P
Thanks, it's just there aren't a whole lot of people in here, who have ridden in both v8 models, one auto and one manual, that can correctly differentiate the power difference...
Like I said, Eric's truck was quick, but mine's faster...
All Ive got is, CAI, E-Fan, exhuast, power wire, and my truck can get to 100 rather fast, for the size...
Oh and traction issues are not a problem, I can let out clutch at about 3700RPMs before I get spin, my tires are ridiculous with gripping the ground...
