'05 Dakota 7/70 Warranty Question
I'm 2nd owner which means the 7/70 warranty had to be transferred...supposedly at a cost of $150 but it was done by the dealership where I purchased the truck at no cost to me.
Today I learned there is a $100 deductible that applies to the 7/70 portion of the warranty.
Did the dealership take the cheap route and select the deductible,or do all 7/70 warrantys have this deductible??
Thanks, Bob

On the 7/70 manufacturer's warranty, I've never heard of a deductable before. From what I've seen and heard, it only covers is drivetrain.
It sounds to me like you got an extended warranty with your truck. Most likely the same one I have, and it's through Chrysler. It's 'bumper to bumper' coverage and has a $100 deductable per occurance/service visit. Not a bad deal when you consider that you're doubling your original coverage and even the most extensive repair will only cost you $100 bucks at most. Unfortunately, I bought my truck before Dodge came out with their 7/70 bumper to bumper coverage, so the extended coverage I bought is better than nothing. Technically, I didn't really "buy" it. The finance manager tried pushing an extended warranty on me for a half hour (I was ready to walk out and not buy the truck b.c I was so frustrated with his sales pitch...AFTER I made the deal on the truck!!) until he finally dropped a point off my finance rate which basically made the warranty free, with the money I was saving over the course of the loan.
Do what I do for service now that I'm out of 'basic' warranty. Wait until you have more than one issue to take it in for repairs. That way they don't stick you for the $100 multiple times.
The last time I had mine in, I was at 36,400 and needed several repairs (drivers seat had a broken mount, broken manifold bolt, and they replaced rear sway arm bushings) and I bitched like a little girl until they waived the deductable, since I couldn't get an appointment the week before and that put me over my mileage. They still haven't fixed my trans issues though, so the next time I take it in for that (hopefully next week) I'm going to do everything I can to get them to waive it again since the service it needs it's a repeat complaint that they haven't fixed the last 3 times I've had it there while it WAS under basic warranty.

"Bitch like a little girl"....I can do that!!
Thanks for the advice....and I feel better knowing the dealership didn't choose the $100 deductible for a lesser cost to them than a $0 deductible. Otherwise I'd be on the phone with them trying out my little girl bitching skills

Dealerships SUCK, I am in the same position with my truck and coverage. I took my truck into a dealership and had them check it out because i just bought it, along with replacing a sensor. They just happened to find things wrong with it so i had to pay the $100 deductible, and then they didn't even fix the problem that i took it in there for. I thought that this warranty was going to help me and not make my pockets lighter !!!!
Does anyone know for sure for the extended warranty deductible is it per item or per visit.I read the posts above and 1 says per repair the other says per visit... I am about to buy it and iIcant figure it even reading the paperwork and I dont usually believe anything the dealers tell me... any experience? if its per visit its a no brainer just wait till a few things need fixing!
The only experience I've had with my extended coverage was the service I mentioned above that was done recently. There were about 5 things I took the truck in for and they actually fixed 3 of them. They waived my deductible, but b4 I got them to do that the service writer told me I would have to pay my $100 for those repairs since I was out of basic warranty. She made it sound like it would just be one deductible for the whole service visit. Since I got it waived, I never paid. So, I don't know if I'd take that as the final word. Just relaying what they told me.

I believe that it is per visit, but depending how how much time is in between the visits i think that you can just cry like a girl and get them to wave it. Ask them why they didn't fix it correctly the first time.

All 7/70s have a $100.00 deductable. Its $100.00 per visit not per issue.

The thing is, I don't remember how long she said it was. [&:]
