R.I.P.----Dodge DAKOTA
Well it's an unofficial announcement about the end of the Dakota. I just got back from the Cleveland Auto Show, one of the top 3 shows in the U.S.A.
Not a single Dak on the entire Dodge carpets.
When I talked to one of the Dodge Reps and asked about where they were hiding them he said
"They didn't send any Dakotas for the show"
I then asked if the rumors were true about the demise of the Dakota he said
"Officially it has not been announced,
all I can tell you is
the Magnum is officially dead and there are none of them here either"
By the way the '09 Ram looks awesome!

I wouldn't be surprised if the Dakota died, it's seems to have lost a lot of appeal, I always see gen2 dakotas, but rarely see gen3 Dak's.
I also agree that the 2009 Ram looks awesome, if I had the use or need for a full size pick up I'd definitly get one. If the Dak does go, the H3T looks pretty cool, I'm sure it would be awesome off road too, they've been doing some pretty rugged off road tests with the H3T. There are a ton of bed accessories too which look pretty cool, wish Dodge offered some for the Dak.

Chryslers big push right now is to consolidate dealerships so you can buy chrysler, jeep or dodge at the same place. They want to elimnate duplication of products within those lines. I think there will be some kind of Dakota in the lineup but it may be different from the current truck. ONe thing may be a unibody pickup that is smaller with better gas milage. Another option discussed would be a nissan built truck based on the frontier. The fact is that the Dakota has grown to close to the ram in size and cost.
