Whats this I see about a cummins swap????

ya, i'm puttin a 3.9 4bt cummins in my 88 dak. I'm building the motor from the ground up. I'm planning on 60+psi of boost with twin turbos. and I'm goin with a NV3500 5 speed tranny.and I'll still get around 30mpg with it too. its gonna be a fun project. money is tight right now, so its delayed for a lil bit. I've been thinkin about dropping it into the 90 dak I just got, its in alot better shape. but we'll see how it goes. and its gonna be cheaper then doing a V8 swap. and nobody has really done this swap in a dak yet. you cant beat the power of a diesel

 

what did that motor come in originally? whats it costing for the swap if I may ask? you can pm if need be.

 

I got it out of a frito-lay truck I got it from the US. for around 2k. then I yanked the motor and scrapped the van. I got just over 1k in scrap for it, since its mostly all aluminum. so probly by the time its all said and done, it should be around 4k. which its too bad. since you have to beef everything up to handle the power. I still dont know what rearend to go with yet.
