Default ram brakes

has anyone investigated the possibility of installing the larger 4 wheel disk brakes from a ram onto one of our dakotas ?

I've looked at it briefly and I was told that I would have to swap out the whole rear axle to get it done. I don't know if that's true. I want to get rid of these drums in the worst way. They are soooooooooooo ugly!

I plan on trying it at some point. Just havent found a ram in the junk yard to swap from. If you have the 9 1/4 rear it should work from what ive looked at with moms vs. mine. Axle is almost the same width

I would worry about brake propotioning as the disks would grab quicker. This is especially a problem if you have 4wheel ABS. You could by an after market proportionong valve to adjust them though.

yes and if thats all you have it would be easier as the ABS would still keep the rears from locking and the fronts are all foot work. It just may not be as efficient as they could be without matching desired line pressures and quickness of application.
