Congratulations on the new truck. Question of curiosity does it have a firmer ride than your 05?

Now that is a nice looking 2008, I totally agree with ya about the way the chrome makes the fronts look. Yours def looks hot the way it is. When I was searching for my 07 that blue caught my eye before. Congrats on the new truck

Thanks guys. I'm liking it pretty well. As far as looks, I'm in love with it. Dealing with an auto trans is going to have to grow on me though. No, forget that. It'll NEVER grow on me.[&:]

Mmullengs, it has a WAY firmer ride than the 05. Since all I had to compare though was my 05 SLT, I don't know if it's more because this one is a TRX, or because it has BFG tires, or a combination of the 2, or what. It's defintiely stiffer and more responsive, and not even a little mushy like the other one we all complain about. One thing I have noticed too is that the steering is VERY tight. I don't know if that's due to the stiffer suspension or maybe because of the FT 4WD setup. When I lay in this thing I damn well better have it pointed the direction I want it to go becuase, if not, the front end 'pushes' a bit and you've got to wrangle it to get it lined up where you want it. It has a shorter turning radius than my 05 did too.

It's actually fun to drive, even with that cursed auto trans. I just pop it in tow mode and tromp it. Once it hits 3500-4000RPM it just goes freakin' nuts. The downside is my mileage readout says like 10.3 MPG. []

Something else I've noticed is the ride height is slightly higher than my SLT was. I park next to a porch and don't have to watch my passenger door when I open it. With the 05, before I went to the 17" rims and slightly taller tires, I had to hold the door or the bottom of it would scrape the steps going up the porch. Once I went with the 17" setup it had about an 1" clearance, which is the same this TRX has with only 16" rims. So, it's not much, maybe 1 or 1-1/2" but the TRX is def higher than the other Daks. The guy I bought my leveling kit off of said that too, that the ride height is a bit higher.

That sounds like good news for my possibility of future upgrades to the front suspension. I am figuring on a 1' lift and the shocks from the 08 parts bin. I love my truck but was disapointed with the squishy suspension. If brings back memories of driving my grandparent's Buick on the highway.

Just reminding you guys about my stuff for sale on the parts board. And no, I'm not above pimping myself.

It's gonna be a while dude. I got pretty backed up money-wise on this whole deal, plus I'm WAY behind on work. Maybe we'll see what this summer brings. Not a lot mod wise I'm looking to do with this thing, at least not right now anyway. It's got new off-road tires, nice looking rims, already has black bezel headlamps, not interested in doing exhaust on an automatic (sounds like crap IMO), I might try to do a CAI but don't think mine will fit (TBI is totally diff than on my 05) which is why I'm selling, and so on. We'll see though, I might get the bug in a few months.

Yea, I asked...ummm...somebody, about theirs on here the other day. It's probably something I'll look into down the road so, when you find a good one, let me know.

I just LOVE shifting. I can't really explain it, but to me, dropping it in drive and not doing anything but steering just isn't driving. For me, shifting makes driving "fun". That said, unless I got a V6 Dak ([&:] ) or went with a Toy or Nissan, I didn't have much choice. I actually toyed with the idea of a Ram1500 with 4.7 and 6 speed since they're still putting them out, but I think even this new engine with 305HP would feel down on power lugging that huge truck around. It doesn't have near the torque the Hemi does being almost 100CID less even though it's only down about 40HP. Oh well, it's mine now so I gotta' get used to it.
