A formal press anouncement
Increasingly, we are leveraging resources worldwide, forming new joint ventures and alliances and consolidating operations in order to better achieve global balance and manage fixed costs. These moves are designed to help Chrysler become a more globally focused manufacturer, with design, engineering, sourcing and a local presence to serve local customers.
As such, we are closing the Pacifica Advance Product Design Center, consolidating the Advance Design function in Auburn Hills. Advance Design remains an integral part of our future design efforts, led by Trevor Creed, Senior Vice President -- Design.
These changes set the stage for Chrysler's future global growth efforts, which also include our intent to establish global expertise in design, engineering and sourcing through centers of excellence. These actions will help the Company meet its long-term globalization goals.
The point is they are on track with this (pink slip) for the Pacifica and you most likely will see others follow suite as models are cut. The Pacifica was a great vehicle that never found its nitch market. The interior had an advanced wrap-around cockpit look unlike another Chrysler products and for that mater unlike most any make out there. It road very quiet and smooth and handled very safely and predicable. The exterior was clean and just nice but had little imagination IMO. It was truly one of the first crossovers of a minivan and a SUV in a larger package than most. The 4.0 came with dual exhaust and optional AWD. There was a who/who’s of options that only came in vehicles in a much higher price arena. So why did it fail to be marking winner? Well it has been terminated and so is the Magnum in 09. Look out Kota there gunning for ya.

I think there will be a Dodge in the future. I ust think that with the economy the way it is and costs of oil, their focus needs to change and I think it has with the intro of the flex-fuel engine, the Avenger and the Caliber. Plus with the intro of the diesel engines as an option istarting in '09 & '10 in most vehicles it could make the difference

Yeah, there will be dodge in the future... It might actually be a Nissan, but it will have a dodge emblem.
The Ram will be around for ever...
It seems to be the dodge constant.

Just seems like this new company is droping more and more vehicle lines
I don’t think they’re much choice. Things are looking bleak for most high ticket items for most families and all automotive companies need to rethink the positing they are in and for the future. Chrysler is going very global and the changes may be hard for diehard Mopar people to get use too. I myself hate to see some models go and looking with a squinted one eye at what may be coming. As it looks now, today this Dak just might me my last V8. Oh, well at lest we had one. The future generation may be driving very strange stuff and never know the smile you get of that sound and power.
