Default CB antenna wher to put it???

Ok so I have just got my 05 dak. I have had it about a week now and I would really like to get my CB back in my truck. Does anyone have any good Ideas on where to mount a CB antenna and or the radio itself. Pics of some installs would be hlpfull if anyone has already done this...

the magnet mounts eventually scratch the paint and cause rust. not to mention up here in MI the snow and Ice build up on them so they fall over.

The best ground for a CB antenna is from the antenna itself to a pure metal ground surface, not through paint. That said, look at ways to mount it to your mirror arm.

Use the roof drill a hole, I have done it several times with Taxi cabs never had it leak!

My father always mounted his to the besd rail, up tight near the rear windsheild (twoards the back of the bed) He always used a thick stubby cb antenna that never came up above the roof. He mounted it with somthing to attach it to the bed rail, probablly some sort of clamp. I think he did it like that because of trees when he took his trucks hunting. Always worked well, doesnt look stupid either.

I would say if you're going to use magnet mount, use some clear packing tape. Place the tape on the magnet mount for the CB antenna, it provides a smooth surface between your roof and the magnet, while retaining magnetic strength. I have a custom built light bar on top of my truck wher eI just got a CB antenna mount welded on, so I don't need to worry about magnetic mounts for my CB antenna. My Internet and Cell phone antennas though are magnetic, with thin plastic coatings between the magnet and roof.
