Default Stiff suspension questions

I just got my 05 quad cab and I noticed pretty quickly that it does not handle bumps in the road very well. The truck is 4.7 with 25k on it.

It seems like when you hit a bump, the rear end hops and moves laterally. It happens at most speeds and is very unnerving at hwy speeds.

Would swapping in some high quality shocks help out with this?

I've been doing some searching and reading, but can't really come up with an answer.

Thanks,

Sean

All pickups jump in the back when hitting bumps. they are too light in the back. Our suspention is real soft too making the truck bounce uncontroably.

It bounces because it's underdamped and not because the springs are too soft. Replacement rear shocks are available that should help with the problem (Monroe Reflex #911277 or Rancho RS5313)

I'll be changing mine but I'm waiting until if decide what to do about the front first. Monroe lists a part #71111 for the Dakota but it's not available for sale yet.

Also watch the front end around 35000, the ball joints get a bit shakey. Haven't really given the rear end much thought after fixin up the front for inspection purposes. Would be nice to have about 750 more in the read to hold baby down. Good luck in your search, I am anxious to see if there is a good fix for our problem.
