Good Tip!
The one-wire hook-up senses the electrical system for a current draw. I am fairly sure there are mercury switches to detect movement of the vehicle. Myy alarms are really the only ones I have e ver seen with a motorcycle battery back-up, but by the time the cut the cattery lead they have bumpedintothe surrounding structures and set off the alarm that way. Then they will hurt themselves trying to get out from under the truck.

I used to install DEI alarms... a battery back up is only 4 inches by 4 inches by 6 inches...
The 1 wire hook ups at autozone (bulldog) use a voltage sense. they dont have a mercury tilt switch, unless its inside the unit. That would suck because you would have to mount it right side up and perfectly level so that wind wouldn't set it off.
Proximity sensors are the best protection for the money, they don't rely on sound (glass sensor) voltage or impact. if something is in there detection field, and it moves... alarm goes off.
A good alarm will have a starter kill... I don't think you can do that with 1 wire.
The mopar unit has starter kill (I believe) so its better than just a siren making noise like GM's.

I have a feeling the panic idea, while good, wouldn't work well around here. Someone's car alarm goes off almost every night near me, everyone's learned to just ignore the things since the person is too lazy to shut it off when it goes off (or get it adjusted properly).
