RE: Out of Curiosity...
Well, since nobody has tried to actually answer the question logically... here goes nothing.
lets say you went with a Donor truck. it would probably be the cheapest way. (can salvage Motor, trans, and engine harnes/cpu.)
I have seen totalled rams at thw J/Y for around 6K
Now figure in ATLEAST 80 hours of shop time for the install. (I have heard of swaps going faster, but the average time seems to fall into that time frame on many other vehicles. (IE Cavalier V6 swap, Civic B18c swap, Silverado 454 swap...) So that where I grabbed the arbitrary 80 hours.
Around here, shop time runs around 150-200/hr. so lets go on the high side and say 200*80=16000... but then lets say you find a shop that knows what they are doing and can do it in half the time... so for 8 grand...
you would still be in the 12 grand price range.
So I would say, just get a ram for that money...

I don't know what I want to do I just thought it would be cool but Im pretty sure not very cost effective. I do really like the 2009 Dodge Rams so I think I might look at one of those in a year or two when there are some good incentives.

It would seem easier, and more cost effective, to try to find a new 4.7 out of a wrecked Ram or Dakota. It might be hard to find since they've only been out 6 months or so, but 300+ HP with no mods, and the swap should be relatively easy considering that it's the same engine block, so one would assume the same engine mounts also. Just a thought.

Just realize that you will have to obtain the wiring harness and ecu for a successfull install. Honestly, removing an engine and install is not what it seems.
If you decide to stick with the 4.7L install, the nice part will be that Dodge has already gone through the fabrication to garuntee fitment.
If you go with the 5.7L, you (nor I) have any clue about the issues that you will run into.....because no one has put one in our trucks yet. The shop that does the work will need to excell at fabrication and engineering. I'm sure you don't want that one guy that has R&I'd a couple motors that one time to take on the job.
Honestly, unless you have a wallet and time, just get a new 08 Dak or maybe even the new 09 Ram...
