Default A fantastic day in the life of Shibby

Yeah so I got off work this morning and I am about 1 mile south of Ames in the right hand lane northbound on I-35 when I hear a puff noise. I look in my mirrors and see smoke billowing from my truck down the road behind me so I immediately put the flashers on, and pull over. I come to a stop and get out and lone behold an *** ton of orange fluid is sitting under my truck. Pop the hood to a plume of smoke and once that clears everything looks ok until I notice that the drive belt is off of the fan pulley and that the orange fluid looks to be coming from the water pump.

Needless to say I stood around for quite a bit in my work uniform in the ditch away from the busy interstate until the body shop that just did all the work on my truck came and picked it up. They towed it and brought me a loaner car.

I was tired from work and slept until about 5:45pm so I didn't get up in time to head to the shop. I did however get a voicemail from the body shape saying they were done with it an that they would discuss what they did when I came in. I am going to get it tomorrow. I wonder if they replaced the waterpump and put in a new drive belt and/or pulley. Wouldn't it of taken them longer than from about 9:00am to 3:00pm to get that kind of work done?

I do have my suspicions though. Truck was running perfectly the day before and I know a couple of very jealous people who might have come to sabotage it. (Cough Cough Bolt, Cough Cough sharpshooter!)

On my3.9L it took me a day to do the water pump. Oh, and that included driving about 65 miles to finally get the correct tools. (Figure an hour to two of driving). And believe me when I say this - I'm a slow worker.
I couldn't imagine the engine you have to be much more work.

I know it took me probably around 5 hours to do the water pump on my old econoline conversion van but that was just because it was a biatch to work on. I will get it back tomorrow and let you all know what they say. All I know is that I am not going to pay anything for something that they probably should have fixed in the first place.
