MyGIG question
I just bought a new 2008 Dakota Sport Crew Cab, and it has the MyGIG navagation ++ system with all the bells and whistles..
Does anyone know if you can edit the song titles that you load on the HD?
I loaded some MP3's and they all just have track names.
I can edit the playlist name but I don't see anywhere to edit the song titles.
Love the Truck,,, 3rd Dakota in 10 years..

No, you cannot edit the individual song titles, just the playlists.
I ran into the same problem. Although I have the latest Gracenote database installed, which I downloaded from the Unofficial MyGIG Information Site, mine would still sometimes show "track01.WMA" or whatever when I ripped a CD to it.
My solution that I read somewhere else was to d/l Apple iTunes. It's a free d/l off Apple's website. I then rip a CD to my PC hard drive, using iTunes. Thus far it has named each title, artist, album, etc., perfectly. It even found names for things that MyGIG previously listed as 'track01.WMA".
I created a mirror image on my PC of what I want on the MyGIG. It's then fast and easy to copy individual folders to a USB flash drive and upload it to MyGIG. One of the cool things, other than it being WAY faster than burning a CD directly to MyGIG, is that whatever I name each folder on my PC automatically becomes the playlist nameafter I upload it toMyGIG. A 4GB flash drive can be found for under $20 with free shipping on places like buy.com.

thanks ,, really appreciate the help... how did the update to the version go? I have seen those on line but was skeptical of trying them. the version on mine is 9.713..
how did the update to the version go?
I've updated the MyGIG application software twice and didn't have any trouble. I have read a few stories about other people having problems with doing it.
The problem most of the time seems to be from not setting up the directory structure on the burned CD according to the instructions. If it's not right the MyGIG will not attempt to update itself.
You just have to be careful to never cycle the power while the update is in progress (i.e. starting the update with the key in the accessory position and then startingthe car before it has finished).
I'm also running v9.713 and I don't have any plans to update to a newer one until something besides the current 9.715 is available. Is your Gracenote database up-to-date? The latest version is 881.

Thanks, I think I'll wait too.
I am not sure of the Gracenote ver. How do I check the version? in system setup?
It probalby is old as I am in Las Vegas, and the dealer had to go to Phoenix to one of only two left in the country with what I wanted. The truck was delived in December 07 to that dealer. I already had to get my dealer to get me a new NAV CD as the one that came with it was dated 2004-2005.

Yes, it's on the same page as the MyGIG application version info.
Menu > System Setup > System Information
I was wondering how you had v9.713, sinceit hasn't been out for very long. I see the dealer gave you an update.
If you like to snoop around you can also enter the engineering mode by pressing the scan UP, DN and Menu buttons all at the same time. Just be careful of what you press while you're in there, and especially DO NOT press the screen calibration button.

From your computer, look at the properties of the song, then summary and choose Advanced. There is a tag called title. That is what the mygig defaults to for the title of the song. If it is blank, then it uses the title.
