Default Engine Overheating!

I need some help figuring this out. My truck overheats a bit when getting on the gas alittle. Then at idle it will go back to normal temp. My coolant is ok. The truck seems sluggish as well. I'm confused especally if the truck cools down at a stop light and doesn't cool down running 70 down the interstate.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a head gasket swing. You have a head gasket that is bad but showing no other signs as of yet.

couple things. when the truck is up tp operating temp, feel the bottom rad hose. if it is hot then the system is working, if it is kinda cool then there may be a slight blockage. also grab the factory cooling fan and see if you can move it up and down or side to side. the clutch may be shot

Make sure to turn the engine off....hehe

I think the head gasket diagnosis is a tad extreme. I would sooner say its a blockage, or a thermostat problem, good luck man

I am going to guess blockage. If your T-Stat is stuck it would probably overheat even at idle. I replaced a stuck t-stat on a ford conversion van once (NOT FUN) and if you even started the van up for a couple of minutes it was burning up pretty bad. Check your bottom hose, and flush your system. Do the cheap stuff first that way you don't spend a whole lot of money right away if you don't have to.

Could this possibly even be a water pump related problem?

It is covered under warranty if the head gasket is bad for 7/70

I'm going to try both of those tonight. Do you think it has something to do with the Trans? I've got the trans cooler which might be increasing temp when I have to get on the gas hard. It's just weird when I hit the gas hard the engine sounds loud but has no low end torque and the temp gauge goes up. Then when sitting at a light in 100 degree weather, thetemp lowers tonormal. If I have time, I'll probably take it in on Monday, but you know how dealerships are, they don't do anything unless there is a code thrown. Thanks for you help!
