Update Code P0420
Trying this again for the 3rd week in a row. Finally got the Dak to the dealership. Code P0420 means the catalytic converter is not working. It was replaced under warranty and the truck has been running really well. Getting 19.4mpg in mixed driving so I am not complaining! Not bad at all for a 4dr truck! Now it's time to replace our old Blazer. We are looking at a Caliber. Anyone know anything about 'em? If this post actually goes through, I'll post in the Caliber site too.
Anyway....just wanted to let you all know what the problem came out to be. All is well now!
Thanks

I looked at a Caliber for a year before I decided to go with my Dak.
The Caliber's are nice cars, very trendy if you ask me, I mean they're built to suit younger people, I mean the Chill Zone cooler, the Rechargeable flashlight/ Dome light, the Sound package, etc. That being said I think they're worth the money... I did have a chance to drive one for about a day and a half as a rental while my truck was in the shop...
My only complaints:
After driving a Stick, going to the CVT Trans with a 1.8L engine... Not enough get-up-and-go in the car, I've heard this from alot of other people as well, if you looking at one I'd go with the 2.4L I4 in the R/T or get a Manual.
Also just very cheap interrior, but hey its a Dodge and its a entry level car so what do you expect.
P.S. You can always go with the Caliber SRT4 [sm=gears.gif]

The Caliber looks and feels very cheap inside and will not be comfortable if you are taller than average (I'm 6'4", definitely not a fan of it). Beyond that there doesn't seem to be too much wrong with it, really not a lot of space inside compared to what you can get with some other hatchbacks though.
I kinda was impressed with the Caliber, I had one as a rental about a month ago for 4 days (small road trip, didnt wanna put the miles on the truck), it had a whole bunch of options, the rt package, etc. I thought it was nice, stereo system was very clear and had decent bass. The mpg was great. It was quite roomy and sharp looking. I would be interested in trying the SRT 4 version. The CVT was interesting, felt like I was riding on my sled. I am thinking this may be a car I may look into when the time comes to replace the Phuckus. Going all DODGE!

Thanks everyone!
Yeah, I'm not really wild about the interior either and I wondered about the CVT tranny....I've never driven one. Yet. I figured I would check out the manual anyway. Hopefully that will help with the get up and go. I like the body styling on it. It seems to sit a little higher, unlike some of the small cars we've been looking at.After driving trucks and SUV's for so long, I hatenot being able to see over/around the vehicle in front of me but Iguess I am going to have to get used to it. What I'm really going for is the mileage and the price. It's going to be our get-around-cheaper car.If itperforms as well as ourDak, I will be very happy!
Thanksagain

My Aunt has a pretty nice Caliber and she absolutely loves it. I believe it is the R/T. It has 20" Rims on it and it still rides pretty damn smooth. She got a wicked deal on hers though. It was a rental car and only had 12,000 miles on it and she paid 10,000 for it after she traded in her 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan. I would say if you are looking for a decent little car, that has good options, and gets good mpgs then go with the Caliber.
Thanks Shibby! That gives me an idea of price that can it can be had for! (if I luck out!) What year is her car? I found one at a used car dealer here. It was a 2007 Caliber SXT with 35000 miles on it which is high but I was gonna ask if they would throw in an extended warranty. They were asking 11000. Unfortunately it was sold 2 hours before I called to see about a test drive. Your aunt got a smokin' deal on hers!Low mileage to boot! Awesome!
