Default Need help for inspection!!!!

Ok, so I am in Germany now, and trying to get my truck registered here. There are just a couple of problems though. First my front door tint needs to come off...no big deal. Next my tires stick out past the body of the truck.....$350 later and I have the Bushwacker extenda fender flares enroute....problem almost solved. Next is my exhaust (which is where I am stuck). It can't be louder than 95 decibels at 3500rpm. Mine is at 97 decibels....the inspection guy said I can temporarily fix it to muffle the sound for inspection, then after that he doesn't care.....so how do I temporarily make my exhaust quieter???????

Depending on the inside diameter of your exhaust, you might be able to buy a motorcycle baffle and put it temporarily into the back-most part of your system. If that isn't practicle, you might have to buy a cheap muffler and find a good place to temporarily install it. Or you might just permenantly install a resonator into your system. You might even find that that solution adds low-end torque to your truck.

White,

I ran into a similar issue when i was stationed in Belgium, the problem that i had was exhaust on my trans am was not to exhaust from the sides of the car or both sidesof the car only one side or both out the back( Kind of strange) but to fix my issue i went to the class 6 and picked up a bottle of Jack and two bottles of California wine and left them in the passenger seat with a notegift to the car inspector. I got the car back in 10 minutes and it passed everything. That was in the late 90s so things have probably changed since then. Question how much are the Esso gas coupons now?

You are right, things have changed. This is my second tour in Germany at the same station. They just stopped using the fuel coupon system, and went to a prepaid card type of ration system, that keeps track electronically of your monthly fuel ration. And gas right now here is around $4.25.

The resonator is a viable option for me. Around 120 bucks including shipping isn't bad....and I know some local mechanics that will weld it in for me for pretty cheap.....question is do I put it in before or after the muffler? Need to know so I can measure and see if it will fit.....Dimensions are 6" diameter, and 14" long.

I put mine in front of the muffler since my muffler is one-in-two-out style. It's under the passanger side where the pipe was straight. I put an 18' resonator on but they have several lengths. It really doesn't matter if the resonator is before or after the muffler or even it there is no muffler with it.

Did your resonator noticeably quiet down your exhaust? Any loss or gain in power after you installed it.

hell just try putting some rags in the pipe for the run, i bet that'd work and no welding/cutting. just stick some in there and test it in the drive athome to see if it will stay in. you only need two decibels, i bet steel wool might work too. Just make sure you have a way to get it out, like a wire tied to it or something.

Pack some steel wool in there, I did it when I had my Integra, it does work. As jtswkd said just make sure you have a way of getting it out.
