Default More info please!!!

Just drove a '05 Dakota quad cab 4x4 4.7 auto. Now this trucks got some guts compared to the v6. Tires would start to spin, but then would grip and goooo.... How do I tellwhat gear ratio and ifit has posi lock rear? I looked in glove bow but nothing there. Would it be in the vin number? Salesman gives a lot of "I thinks this" and "probably that" Dumb butts...
I cleared the computer and in town was averaging around 16mpg, cleared it on freeway and was around 23+ (I know that way is not exact) My trailblazer has never came close these numbers, period.... Will crunch numbers with bank monday.....

as far as the gear ratio, have the service dept, enter the vin into the computer and find out. if there is not a sticker on the back of the glove box, then they will need to look this up on the build sht. most likely they are the 3.92. better equipment for the heavier quad cab. as for the mileage, around town should be about 17/18 which is good. on the highway being at 23 miles is right on the money. if you leave the cruise on and keep it around 70 mph you should get this all the time. might be a mile lower with the a/c on. if you are lucky, you should be able to pick the truck up for 15000 or less. before you go back, do a kelly blue book search on truck. if not this specific one then any 05 with the options you are looking for. also a carfax if the dealer has not done that

Tow package isn't a failsafe way to determine gear ratio. I've got the tow package and 3.55 gearing...

I'd go with what superdak suggested and have the service department plug in the vin and print you a build sheet.
