I personally prefer shrouded units, as they can draw air from the entire area the shroud covers. SPAL doesn't sell too many shrouded fans. Although, you should be able to get away without the shroud. Never used a SPAL fan yet but they're highly recommened on a Jeep forum I'm with. I've actually been considering opting out of the taurus fan and getting a two stage fan that draws less amps.
