Default Tailgate Cables

As always I cant find parts for my 05 Dakota thanx to our wonderful lack of aftermarket support for 3rd Gen Dakotas. Does anyone know where I can get Tailgate Cables? I have searched everywhere and cant find anything past 04. I haven't checked with the dealer yet but hate getting parts from them because they are overpriced. Anyone know if a different year or even make will fit? Thanx

I'm wondering why you need new cables already?

I'm kinda worried about mine, now...

Yea what did you do to yours?

Have you checked out any of the local parts stores, rather than online. I am not sure if they carry some for our trucks but I know when my older dakota was in need of some I found factory replacements there. Just a thought

Might as well upgrade to the dual position ones since you are going to buy half of the hardware anyway.

It is a cool idea. Although I haven't seen much use for using it yet. I guess I worry that the sheets may slide out the back since they lay level if you use a 2x4 over the wheel wells. Oh well, just me I guess.

The one thing that bothers me with mine on my 08 is that the left cable ALWAYS gets hung up on the plastic 'hub' when I'm putting the gate down.

Are you From West Virginia? Just weld a couple Chains to the outside of the rear quarter and tailgate. They should work fine.
