Really?? Maybe my V6 is sitting differently then the V8. Yeah I got really easy clear access to the oil filter, and it has a plastic slide built under it for oil control, you all you do is loosen it a tad, and all the oil comes down the slide, and none runs down the side of the filter. So once its done draining, u can pull it off clean. And the drain plug is in a clear spot too, so thats clean and easy as well.

Interesting I usually wear some oil on the side of my arm when pulling the filter... Frenchy tells me its a cool new look to have oil on your arms, I think it looks like hell, but anyways, and then when the drain plug is pulled the oil likes to run across the one support. Its usually all over. I just clean up everything and make sure theres no dirt anywhere.

So whats this plastic slide look like and hows it attached?

Oh then the V8 is def not the same as the v6. No support in the path of the oil.

My oil filter mounts horizontally, and where it screws in, there is a plastic slide, it simply looks like a black plastic slide, so when unscrewing the filter slowly, since its sitting horizontal, it all starts draining out into a slide, thats like maybe 6 inches long, and starts as wide as the filter, and gets a tad bit smaller twoards the end, it controls all the spill into 1 spot. I put my oil pan under the slide, and boom. all i have to do is unscrew the filter, and hold it, and it starts pouring into the slide, none runs down the side of the filter, so none gets on me.

It's the cleanest oil change Ive ever done. Ususally the filter is sitting vertically, with its mouth facing up, so when u unscrew it, it runs down the side of your filter and onto your hand.

Not with this setup tho!

Ours is kind of at an angle, and there's too much stuff under it to get a clean drain into the oil pan, it just goes everywhere.
