I wouldnt pay a dime.

If they want to make the choice of trying new plugs, that should'nt cost you money. It's there job to diagnose the problem, and fix it, under warranty, at no cost to you. If this means they want to replace the plugs, you should not pay a dime.

I already don't like your dealer's service department.

You say plugs "again"? They did this once already? Just bring them in the TSB that you found online. Why would they try more spark plugs? It can be a number of things that they did not try.

i agree with you!!!! i plan on asking for my money back if it is miss diagnosed (as plugs and throttle body cleaning). i did plugs myself between 5000 and 7000 miles ago to try and correct this rough idle! guess what? i didn't work. so we will have to wait and see if mr. rough idle is cured by new plugs again.

i also agree that the dealer is playing a cat and mouse game here. they are trying to see how much i know, as to what their game plan is.

i noticed it around 7000-8000 miles (a little roughness at idle). it is still the same today! not a big deal. but if it is going to get worse i would like to have the tsb done! not all of the 3.7's do it. my build date is august 2005 and it is a 2006 model year. maybe yours was built later with revised locks?

hey its been 4 hours since the dealer called. maybe their trying to figure out what to do with me?
why do dealer have to be this way?

i had bad dealings with a toyota dealer here in town one year ago over a carrolla p-420 code (cat convertor). here is the toyota dealer scam. alot of carollas throw a p 420 code. if you are in warranty they reset (re-flash pcm) the parameters of the 2 o2 sensors to not be as sensitive. if you are out of warranty bend over. you need new cats at 1200$. aftermarket ones will throw the p420 also so you have to go dealer. i was so mad after that dealing i couldn't see straight.

*******UPDATE*******
they called this morning and said they got the plugs and throttle body cleaned, and said it helped the idle but it was still rough. next they ran a compression test and said it had great compression, so they then hooked up the drb3 to do the test in the tsb (that they now admit applies). the test says the misfire count should be above 10 per minute for the tsb to apply, but when they hooked mine up it was showing no misfires over a period of 10 minutes.

so they next ran top engine cleaner through the throttle body let it stall, and the let it sit for a hour. started it back up and drove and say the idle is now as smooth as can be. they then hooked the vehicle back up to the drb3 and ran the tsb test again and didn't get a single misfire of a period of 10 minutes. i pick it up today i will let you know how it idles. i am opptimistic! mike

p.s. i am going to ask for the compression #'s on the paper work

Default TSb

I had this TSB taken care of at the dealer on my v-6 with 45000 on it. I only paid $100 deductible on the power train warranty. Took care of my rough Idle and gave me a clean top end at 45000. I was pleased
