Default Oil Analysis

So a few people had asked about posting the results of my oil analysis when I had it done. Ran Amsoil 0W-30 full synthetic for over 8k miles, would have gone longer but considering I ran it almost 1k miles on the same oil after the rollover I was a little nervous. Right now I'm running the Amsoil XL 5W-30 (just didn't want to spend that much on the 0W-30 again, that stuff's expensive), I'll probably run the same period on this and get another analysis done when I change it. Looks like extended oil change on Amsoil is not an issue in our trucks (especially with my driving habits )

Good Silicon levels.

Yeah Amsoil is good stuff. Amsoil and Mobil 1 have the best oil analysis results. You could proabablly go double that drain duration, 14-15k miles NP.

Well I figure since I switched the type I'll try the same interval again. Plus a lot of my driving is short distance in town, if the next results are still good I'll bump the interval up.

This link is too another extended drain test on Mobil 1 EP, off of the BITOG forum. There is mixed reviews on it. Looks like its fine at the 13,000 miles interval though.

If you do a search on the forum, there is also results for Royal Purple, Castrol Syntec, etc. in the 4.7L.

Mobil 1 EP went up in price, and I might just have Amsoil shipped to my door from now on. I ran all over town last sunday to get 5 quarts of 10w-30 M1 EP for my dakota, for some reason 5w-30 and 10w30 EP was out of stock all over. I change the oil every October, and its price gets closer to the price of a quart of Amsoil 5w-30 fully synthetic every year. I think I payed $7.79 a quart this time! Good thing its a once a year thing for me...

That silicon level is a lot higher than mine was at 10k.

They even mention checking your airfilter. Check all the clamps and hose to make sure there is no leak anywhere.

My TBN at 10k was 5.x also. This was with M1

I will see what my next test comes out as. Doing it again on fresh (5k) oil. Thing is I drive so infrequently that it takes time for the miles to rack up.

Thanks for the results. Now I can compare mine with yours and also others.

My air filter probably needs to be replaced, hasn't been for awhile. I was going to just get a K&N as I thought I'd be getting cash from a research thing I'm participating in but it turns out it's a gift card to the mall. Guess I could just go grab a Napa replacement filter for now.

Most UOAs show higher silicon levels with K&N air filters. Probably not an amount worth being concerned about though. I guess they pass more dirt?

UOAs are great, I have saved countless hours and $$ doing extended drains. 3k oil changes are bunk.
