Default airbag warning light

every once and a while (like just tonight) my airbag warning light likes to come on and stay on. After a couple of hours not running, it will go away. I'm wondering what could cause it and what happens if it doesn't go out later?

Could be that you have something very lite on the seat. Example laptop, breifcase, lunch etc. That will cause the airbag light to come on. When items are removed it will go out.

nope not it, then the seatbelt light would come on. not the airbag warning light in the speedo. Plus I had my son in the passenger seat with the belt on so that wouldn't be it.

I then went out a couple of hours later and started her up. no light. I just don't get it.

If I recall correcly, if the connection to the impact sensors in the front of the truck are bad or intermittent, the light will come on as well.

My passenger air bag-disabled light comes on every so often without anything on the passenger seat, and sometimes both the driver and passenger lights come on. usually they reset themselves after a restart or a couple of hours.
I have no idea why, and it seems to correct itself each time.

We're talking about the instrument cluster ABS light, correct?

I just started experiencing the same problem with my 2005. Both the dash light and the instrument cluster light will go on/off intermittently. You can lightly push on the front left corner of the passenger seat cushion and it will go off. Sometimes going over a bump will cause it to go off/on. Seems like a loose/faulty connection, but I have not traced it yet.

I had this same problem with the driver side airbag light (instrument cluster) a few months ago, and found that a rear floormat had worked its way under the seat. I moved it, and the light has not come back on, but have had no success with the passenger side. Any ideas?

the one in the instrument panel that looks like a guy in a seat, with seat belt and the airbag in their lap. It's red.
