Tire Help
Is it just me, or are the stock tires really bad on these trucks? The P245/70R16 Goodyear SR-A's on my '08 make the Eagle LS's that were on my '06 look good. So I think the first mod for my '08 is gonna be a tire upgrade. Leaning toward the General Grabber AT2 in P265/70R16. Also like the Pirelli Scorpion ATR. Anyone have any experience with the Generals or Pirellis? I've think I've seen a lot of good comments on here about the Generals.

I know the Parelli ATR's are rated really highly on tirerack.com. Top 3 in about every catagory I think. The Grabber's are a good lookin tire too. They about mid-list on the same survey.
I'm looking for new tires too....not sure what to go with either, but these tires SUCK in IOWA WINTERS! Frenchy said his Firestone Destination AT's work good for him. BFG's are always good, but there spendy. The only good rated Goodyear tire is a Goodyear Wrangler w/ SilentArmor, even then I'm skeptacle.
Good Luck to ya, hope this info helps

I'm running Merrit All Country Radial LXT's, pretty similar to the grabber or a ta/ko but cheaper. My dad's been running them on all the company trucks since before last winter and the guys said they're great in the snow, this will be my first winter with them. On my old truck I had some Goodyear Wrangler ATS tires that were great but after that SR-A crap that came on my truck I'm done with Goodyear... Worst tires I've ever had the displeasure of using.

I put the Grabber AT2 on my 04 Jeep Liberty mostly because stock tires looked wimpy. The AT2 was an excellent price with the aggressive 4x4 look I wanted. I love them! I am in freakin' snow capitol of the north, and they handle everything I throw at em. My blacktop driveway is 1/2 mile steep incline, usually iced over and zero problems. With that said... sometimes stopping on the glare ice, like that same driveway or hard pack intersections is another story. Not much grip for stopping. But... 31,000 miles on them and barely any wear, so holding up very well. Overall I'd definitely buy them again (and may for my 08 Dakota). 8.9 out of 10!

Thanks for the response about the Generals, TRX. I don't think there's any tire that will help a vehicle stop. I was driving down the road Saturday and a Chevy Blazer came flying across an adjoining parking lot and couldn't stop and started sliding. Needless to say, the side of my new truck came within about a foot of getting remodeled by the blazer. I had just enough room to squeak by the front of the blazer. Be careful out there this time of year everybody.
