hello guys. i havent been to work yet to pull out my scanner but ive noticed every once in a blue moon, in the morning when i turn the truck on and get going. maybe 1 min later the engine light comes on. it doesnt make the truck run rough or anything. but it feels like it has only one gear. take off slips like no other and stay in one gear throughout the speed range. even going like 20 ish if i mash the throttle it doesnt kick down or downshift. just kinda slowly climbs up. last time i pulled the code it said something about throttle position with engine speed and certain amount of vaccum will set this code.

any ideas on this?

o yea its a 2006 4.7 2wd bought from towbin in vegas

 

check your tps, it might also be a problem with your trans. check all your vacuum lines for cracks or leaks and make sure they are all hooked up right.

also if you get it scanned post up the codes. you said it doesn't run rough only feels like one gear and slips?

 

correct... doesnt mess with idle or runability. so yea ill go thourgh the vacuum system and check all that and make sure no wires are messed up on the TP sensor or anything...ill have to wait until tomorrow to use my scanner but also i forgot to mention after a day or so. the light goes off on its own. so its not a fault that on all the time becuase it turns off after three trips, or so

 

update...i just went to the store...the engine light is still on but it drives fine. shifts good takes off normal...??!!!! this is weird

 

post codes when you can, post the code numbers.

any back firing threw the throttle body? sounds like an 02 sensor is playing havic with the pcm. i had this happen on my fullsize.

 

nah i have yet to hear a backfire. its got to be something intermittent cause it happens at least 4 times a year. but the next morning the light will be off and shifts fine. i work at 4 vegas time so ill scan it and let you guys know the code. cause im curious too even if the CEL not on.
