Default The find the cheapest part game!!!!

Alright so I jumped the gun a little the guy on the phone yesterday was saying "FCM" not "SCM" apparently my truck has a faulty FCM. I was quoted $630 for this part from them and told it would take 5 days to get it in to the shop.

Here's the game. I need an FCM Part Number 4692018AJ I have managed to find one for about $328 and that was the cheapest I could find one for. I know there are some guys on here who have a knack for finding stuff pretty damned cheap. Help me out here, the dealership has agreed to let me find a part and they will install it. I would like to find something today if at all possible.

I found a used one on ebay for $85, so probably around $100 after shipping, check it out its and FCM for an 05 Dakota 4x2 (Cant remember if yours is 4x2 or 4x4), http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-...QQcmdZViewItem

Ill keep looking for new or used ones and get back to ya

Is that part number their inventory number? I have a different one in the parts manual...

I have:

04692093AE - 4x2 WD

04692094AE - 4x4 WD

Had it put back together today so I can drive the POS home. Dodge has yet to reply to my emails and the dealership refuses to order the FCM until I can pay for it even though I offered to leave them collateral and sign an agreement to pay. I pretty much hate my truck right now and really wouldn't mind rolling the thing off a cliff. This part is like 6" x 6" in size and has a whopping 3 connector ports on it. I don't see how something this small costs so much money. Funny thing is it's connected to the fuse box and sits uncovered in the open.

I would think that a major electrical component should probably be something that is covered up and not exposed to the elements.

By the way David I cleaned the connectors to no avail still the same old ****.

Thanks for your helps guys. I guess I drive around with no tach, speedo, or temp guage for the next two weeks because the dealership is a bunch of ******** and won't trust me after I just paid them $300 to basically tear it down and put it back together.

If it is any consolation, I would have ordered it for you with just a hand shake agreement. Wish I could have helped you more.

BTW. Went to a friends junk yard today to get a 4.7L valve cover for a Ram. When I was leaving, I spotted a 3rd gen Dak that was crushed on the passengers side. If you want I can go back by there and check the part number on the FCM. If its the same part #, I know I can get a pretty good deal.

If it's not too much trouble man, I could definitely use any help I can get right now. Hopefully it was a two wheel drive. I think the part number on mine is something like 04692018AH which is for Dakota or Durango without transfer case. It's wierd the part number the dealer gave me was 4692018AJ not sure what the difference is.

But yeah if you could check on that for me man I would definitely appreciate it.

Went to the junk yard today, it was a 2008 and the part # was different, but the owner is on the look out for one for you.....The difference between AH and AJ is minimal. Either one should work for you...
