Problem with engine, don't know what it could be
That's the impression I'm getting from the issues described. If you do get a code at Autozone make sure you don't clear the codes with the scan tool and bring it over to the dealer since the truck is still under warranty.
To check your Codes on an OBD-2 (after 96) for chrysler, Turn key on-off-on-off-on. The place where your mileage use to be will tell you your engine codes. Just like the GM guys use to do with the paperclip.
This does not erase them, it only lets you read them. Since you are posting under the 3rd Gen I'm assuming that it's under Warrenty and you do not want to erase the codes. But on the other hand, If it tells you Temp gauge and you check the guage, if its not plugged , no need to take it to the dealer.
This procedure is safe, I am a certified Chrysler Mechanic and everyone should know this, If your vehicle breaks down at night and your stranded, wouldn't you like to know what it is, before you get it towed?, maybe its an easy fix. It will store hard codes (Faults-constant) and soft codes (intermittant-engine light on, then off again)
Any questions please ask.

Yea I went from OFF to the first click. Then I tried it from OFF to the start position where the chimes and lights lit up. Neither way worked.
Turn on, all the way till the engine lights come on, pretty fast and leave on the last time. It probrably will not work on the Mitsubishi. You guys made me second guess my self. I Just went out and it worked on the 2006 Dakota and the 2004 Ram 1500.
If there are no Codes, look at the odometer (Digital), It will go from miles to dashes. If there are no codes it will pause then read DONE.
It may take a couple of times for you to get it to work but it does.
I am a Chryler tech and would not try to post in-accurate info. I hope this helps.
The engine is not running when you do this, you do not start the truck.

It has to spots in the ignition...seems to click twice anyway. I turned it until I heard and felt one spot. Then there's another place just before ignition that it clicks. I tried both, didn't see anything but the odometer reading. Mines on 05 Dakota.
