Default Maybe Front End?

I was going to add this to the other thread about the front end, but it has since been closed, sorry to make a new thread but I have a question.

I have been realizing then when going over pot holes, or any holes for that, it seems like my truck wants to go all over the road way. Does anyone else have this problem, or know what might be causing this?

Thanks in Advance Guys

btw for those who dont know me on here, I have an 05 Dakota.

i know you and you are cute...

As to your problem, it's more than likely the **** shocks that we have, mine was doing that before I got mine replaced...

also, check the tire inflation. over inflated may cause the truck to it more often,

I have that EXACT problem. I have an 06 V6 4x2 extended cab. I was convinced it was the front struts. Now that its winter time and I have added 275lbs to the truck bed, over the axle for traction, the problem is 100% gone.

I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth. I am sure it needs somthing lol. Maybe the rear shocks. Maybe it still is the front.

I also need to figure this out after winter. I know for a fact the truck did not do this when it was newer.

The rear shocks suck too. For many many people, the shocks on these trucks are awful. Especially in 05-06 models... Just wait 07 guys, I bet it's coming for you too. Maybe there were a bad batch from a certain factory, I don't know. Here is what I do know.... The problem is that they don't just go bad, they fail in a way that causes them to perform worse than a blown shock. After removing the oem units, I noticed that it was very difficult to compress them by hand...and then they sprung back with a good deal of force, similar to a pogo stick. This was true of all 4 shocks. This is probably why there is so much bouncing and eratic control at both ends of the truck. A few hundred lbs of weight in back will certainly help. I know, not everyone has this ride control issue, but if you do, here is what I recommend.

1) Replace all 4 shocks. Rancho, Monroe, whatever....but I would stay away from factory replacements.

2) Get an alignment immediately. No buts.

3) Also inspect tie rod ends and sway bar end links for excessive wear or breakage as these seem to fail right along with the shocks....probably due to all the extra motion.

Is this Dodge's fault? I don't know and I don't really care. All I can say is that my blood pressure over this issue decreased dramatically after I took these steps....at my own time and expense. Good luck.

My truck did this when new. After a few 1,000 miles it stopped. My front struts were very "tight" and the rebound was very "severe".

After the "break in" period for them, it rides fine and the "automatic lane changing" has stopped.

I can duplicate this now if I run too much air pressure in my tires. I have found for myself and the tires I am now running, 42PSI works best. Any more PSI and it will "dart" all over the road.

As for the rears, I have Bilsteins on there and I would not trade them for anything else currently available.

Here is the Bilstein part # F4-BE5-6682-H5 These are the 5100 Series. SEE NOTES BELOW

NOTE 1 : Make sure you order the correct size bushings and metal inserts for the ends or the bolts will be loose.

Note 2 : The part number listed above is ONLY for a truck with 1.5"-2" blocks in the rear.
Stock ht. trucks will need a different shock. I don't have that number in my head, but I can get it again if need be.
